[ubuntu] Wireless Atheros AR9285 not working

My wireless, Atheros AR9285, is not working I have searched the forums and other places.

The network manager applet says that "wireless not ready".

The following are a collection of applicable terminal commands:

So I have seen many other people have a similar problem where they did not have a hardware wifi switch on, I have mine on. Also I have seen others where there was an "acer-wifi" module that was blocking the wlan connection.
